Home Attention Friends of Mexico!  Your Help is Always Needed and Very Welcomed!

Several Project Histories:

Luis G. Ramírez Valadéz School

A joint effort by PVO Mexico and the generous financial contribution en 1991 of the J. Walter Thompson, Co. culminated in the successful adaptation of the Luis G. Ramírez Valadéz Primary School to accommodate the needs of disabled children.
This project consisted of the construction of wheelchair access ramps, the  modification of bathrooms for handicapped use and the adaptation of a special school.  Arrangements were made with the Mexico City Municipal System (D.I.F. Sistema Municipal Ciudad de México) to offer teachers special training to work with and better understand these special needs children.

Oxchuk Clinic

Oxchuk is a small clinic located in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, which was equipped by the representatives of the Rotary Club with assistance of PVO Mexico.

PVO representatives visited the clinic with Rotarians and members of the State Health Secretary.  As a result of this meeting, the clinic was completely remodeled and, thanks to Bob Bundy, Oxchuk Clinic has sufficient medical equipment and disposable supplies and instruments.

Social Security Institute for Workers Serving the State of Chiapas

PVO, in conjunction with the  Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints(Jesucristo de los Santos de los Ultimos Días), furnished the Social Security Institute for Workers (Instituto de Seguridad Social de los Trabajadores al Servicio del Estado de Chiapas) with medical equipment and instruments and with disposable supplies.

Abrázame Home

Located on Fray Servando Teresa de Mier, Number 104, in the center of Mexico City, Hogar Abrázame is a shelter for children suffering from Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

The Administration of the Patrimony for the Public Benefit  (La Administración del Patrimonio de la Beneficencia Pública) together with the Cuauhtemoc  Delegation (Delegación Cuauhtémoc) gifted the property for the home to PVO in 1992.
At this time, the property was reconditioned, thanks to the support of the National Lottery for Public Assistance (Lotería Nacional Para la Asistencia Pública).
In 1996 the work was completed and officially to the Ser Humano International Foundation (Fundación Ser Humano Internacional, I.A.P.) for its operations and administration, and  all rights to the property were ceded.

Municipal Rescue Squadron of the City of Nezahualcoyotl, State of Mexico.

Since 1994, PVO Mexico has supported the Rescue Squad (Escuadrón de Rescate Municipal) with the donations of a computer, disposable materials, medical equipment, and a hospital bed for accident victims in the immediate vicinity.

PVO also donated a  Chevy van that was transformed into an ambulance.

Contact Lens Program

PVO and the National Polytechnic Institute (Instituto Politécnico Nacional), in conjunction with the Municipal Systems of the City of Nezahualcoyotl, Toluca, the State of Mexico and Tepic, Nayarit, carried out a program to gift contact lenses to individuals of limited economic resources.

There are many more examples of the successful collaboration in the areas of health and education. This list, however, gives us an idea of how simple it is to create the roots of a project.

To work in conjunction with the private sector, the public sector and the nonprofit community can make a difference in the quality of health and education for those in the greatest need.

These projects do not intend to replace the participation of the various sectors in their good works; on the contrary, they aim to enhance and multiply the fruits of those labors on behalf of the needy.
