Home Attention Friends of Mexico!  Your Help is Always Needed and Very Welcomed!

Projects in 2004:

As always, it is our pleasure to provide you with the statement of activities that we have developed during the year 2004. In these pages, you will find photographs, statistics and very interesting information, all of which are the backbone of our work. In short, here you will see the actions that form part of the projects which we will describe step by step.

Before doing so, I would like to express my deepest acknowledgment to the donors who, through their contribution of resources, time and interest, make possible for hundreds of people to have a better choice regarding their living conditions.

Times are tough, but the intention and desire to help are stronger. This year, we have consolidated community development projects through which we had the good fortune of seeing our goals accomplished beyond expectations. This does not only imply obtaining the necessary resources to carry out these projects, although this is very important, but even more important is the full and active participation of the communities in which the projects were located. Regarding our scholarships project, we are pleased to inform you that Miss Adriana Rojas Mendoza successfully completed her undergraduate studies in Customs and Foreign Trade. We would just like to remind you that PVO has sponsored Adriana’s studies since she was in elementary school.

We were also very excited to see Ivan Rafael head to the municipality of Solosuchiapa , in the state of Chiapas , to start his Social Service activities in the municipality’s rural, low-income communities. It is quite amazing to witness a person who lacks lower and upper limbs, yet has the will, the strength and the determination to confront the situations that life throws his way. Congratulations, Rafa!.

These are merely two examples of what you will find in this statement. You will doubtlessly feel as proud as we are to help fulfill many people’s dreams. Carrying out activities in favor of the most marginalized sectors, represents a very hard task, because the shortages and necessities of the poorest populations go beyond any resource. Nevertheless, PVO will not cease to work, and we will keep searching for ways to obtain funds that will allow us to contribute, as we have until now, to a country that is more just, and a population that has a better quality of life.

Our heartfelt thanks to the donors, the volunteers, the working team, and the beneficiaries, for believing and placing their trust in PVO.

Yours truly,

SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR INDIGENOUS,
RURAL AND URBAN COMMUNITIES.

In 2004 we were able to consolidate and begin a project of great importance for community development.  We are pleased to inform you of the work that we have developed in the following projects:

“LAS ROSAS”, SAN MIGUEL DEL CENTRO, MUNICIPALITY OF  SAN JOSE DEL RINCON IN THE STATE OF   MEXICO .

As we have been informing you, the second phase has been completed with the construction of lavatories for 50% of the population; we provided tooth brushes for the entire population, medical consultations were carried out, medicines were donated to children with seizure problems, and psycho-pedagogical activities were carried out for the educational support of children and youth.

SAN JOSE SOTO, MUNICIPALITY OF SENGUIO , STATE OF MICHOACAN .

Working in this community is a challenge because it is located within the ranges of extreme poverty and high marginalization. During our visit, when we were invited by the Secretary of Social Development, Delegacion Michoacan, the villagers asked us for a computer center that will help facilitate homework for children and young students and possibly help avoid students dropping out for lack of means to allow them to advance in their development.

After analyzing the situation, we’ve concluded that this project will have a positive impact, and not only on this community, because it will attract at least 5 more communities.  And so we took on the task of establishing a collaboration agreement with SEDESOL to start the construction of this important computer center, through a social co-investment project, agreeing that each of the project’s participants will contribute 50%. We are very glad to inform you that the construction of this center got underway in November 2004 and we expect to see it completed by February 2005.

“IN MEMORIAM RICHARD HOJEL” SCHOLARSHIP PROJECTS

Thanks to the Schumacher-Hojel Foundation, our scholarship program for disabled children keeps producing great and successful results. The most recent one was Adriana Rojas Mendoza’s completion of her undergraduate studies in Customs and Foreign Trade.

Adriana sets an example for those who keep on making an effort to pull through and obtain a career that will allow them to be independent and successful.

Another exceptional example is set by Miss Mireya Barron, who is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Nursing. In spite of her disability due to the lack of an upper limb, she keeps on showing strength and decision to succeed.
